Jacob Oates from the band Futon
“Once you have the gear, the mic’s, compressors and acoustics, you learn that the only thing of value is your ears, your heart and intuition born of the experience of many years. Rob has all of the important stuff that you can’t buy, plus a finely chosen array of gear, great sounding room and the unique and very special environment that both he and his multi talented wife Laura have created at Root Cellar Studio. Rob has the irreplaceable intangible qualities that bring out the best in his artists and make for an exceptional recording experience. I have tracked multiple projects at Root Cellar and look forward to many more. Thank you Rob!”
Scott Buck composer, mutinstrumentalist
"Rob is someone who I have seen, on countless occassions, effortlessly wear so many different hats in the studio. No doubt he's a fantastic and tasteful player, excellent songwriter, and high level professional engineer. But I think it's his role as a producer that has been most inspiring to me over the years. Always with an ear for the big picture of the project, he always seems to hear something subtle (that no one else hears!), that then pushes the track to the next level and brings out the best of everyone else in the room."

Alex Clark
session drummer and drummer/ singer for the band Futon
"I'm a songwriter, a singer and a guitar slinger. I've been born to do music. I started playing pro at age 14. In my first 18 years of playing pro music, I had a pretty magical time. Probably one of the appogees of my career during that time was making an LP record with Robert James Blackwell.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Blackwell
I will say that in those first 18 years and work with the likes of Bumps Blackwell truly taught me how to create and express the Music and The Stories that I am on Earth to Share. My Mentor and RecordMaker Teacher Robert Bumps Blackwell, who in 1957 recorded and produced the legendary Sam Cooke and was responsible for "You Send Me" to be on the A side of the 45 with over Ten million LP Albums sold. I learned a thing or three about making records. There's absolutely no substitute for a producer that knows his way around a recording studio. And a producer that also is an audio engineer. And a World Class Musician steeped in Music Theory. A Producer that understands acoustic science.
I really hadn't found anyone With the full set of producer, tools, and work capabilities that could even remotely come close to Robert Blackwell. I will say Now, at this time that I am so happy to be working with Record Producer ROB because he walks in all these shoes.
Making recorded music is magic. And making a hit record is Supernatural. With the way that the Music Industry has been adapting to its needed changes, the recording industry/music industry is reinventing itself. Record producer ROB and his associates are the future of professional recorded music and scores for films. Keep ears out for Music and Lyrics Destined to Re-Program our Human Condition as Divine Beings. Yes, such is the Power of Music." https://music.apple.com/us/artist/mickey-king/1674679564
